Gumdale School Signs to Reinforce Parking Rules – Thanks to Community Grant from Suncorp Insurance

(LegalLaw247.com, January 27, 2012 ) Australia -- Suncorp Insurance and the Queensland Police Service (QPS) have awarded Gumdale State School a $1000 community grant to erect new signage that will reinforce parking rules for the loading zone, located on New Cleveland Road.

The grant is one of 23 awarded to community groups throughout Queensland for initiatives that promote road safety and reduce crime or the fear of crime.
The new signage is part of a range of measures being implemented to improve traffic and road safety around the school.

Executive Manager, Martin Weatherhead, said: Schools should be places of safety for students. But traffic and children dont mix. Hopefully this will help the school enforce the parking rules.

Wynnum Traffic Branch Officer in Charge, Senior Sergeant Neale Stoneley, said parking in the loading zone had caused congestion and safety concerns for children at the school.

We hope people dropping-off and picking-up students will take notice of the new sign and obey the rules, Senior Sergeant Stoneley said.

The Community Grants Scheme (Road Safety and Crime Prevention) made possible by Suncorp Insurance and QPS, is designed to enable local communities to develop and implement projects that will improve road safety and help reduce crime and fear of crime in Queensland.
