(LegalLaw247.com, May 01, 2012 ) Tulsa, Okla. -- Employees from the law firm of Troutman & Troutman, P.C. participated in the 2012 MS Walk in Tulsa on April 21 and their walk team raised $1,500 to go toward MS research and fundraising.
The National MS Society holds walks in cities around the United States to increase awareness for people living with multiple sclerosis and raises funds for research to combat the disease, an autoimmune disorder that affects about 400,000 people in the US. This year's MS walk in Tulsa raised over $72,000 for the organization. Troutman & Troutman, P.C. employees joined the team "Heritage Hounds" for this year's 3 mile walk. Dave Heritage, the husband of firm employee Julie Heritage, lives with MS and organized the team.
"It is great to see people give their time and money in support of such a great cause," said Steve Troutman, SSI attorney and partner at Troutman & Troutman, P.C. "Many of the people in the walk had shirts or nametags showing support for a friend or family member with MS. It appears that significant strides have been made in the treatment of MS in the past several years, but much more needs to be done. As with many other chronic diseases, the effects of MS can be very debilitating, and we pray that much more will be done to understand and treat MS in the future."
