Arnold Law Firm Reports Bay Bridge Ready for Demolition

(LegalLaw247.com, August 30, 2013 ) SACRAMENTO, CA – The famed Bay Bridge connecting San Francisco and Oakland is in the midst of a demolition that will eliminate all traffic for Labor Day weekend to allow for the installation of a connector to the new bridge.

More than 270,000 vehicles travel along the bridge every day, but over the weekend there will be none except for the 2,000 trucks carry chunks of asphalt away from the demolished sections of the gigantic structure. California Highway Patrol and Caltrans authorities closed the highway around 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 28.

Bob Goodwin of the Bay Area Toll Plaza Authority said of the thousands of trucks that they are, “coming over in the weekend and every one of them will return full.” The bridge’s new East Span connector is slated to open after Labor Day Weekend, according to the Toll Bridge Program Oversight Committee.
