Security Guard Charged With Manslaughter Reports Standeffer & Harbin

(LegalLaw247.com, August 03, 2013 ) Anderson, SC – On Thursday a private security guard at a night club turned himself in after being accused of fatally shooting a woman as she was driving away from the club.

The man is being charged with voluntary manslaughter and assault and battery charges, while the bond hearing took place on Friday.

After the security guard turned himself in, he told investigators he shot at the woman’s truck in self-defense as she had veered towards him. He also reported that he tried to stop the truck because the passenger in the vehicle had a gun.

Reports from the coroner show that the woman was shot from behind and the bullet struck her back, which resulted in her truck striking a pole. Her passenger was also shot in the arm and his handgun was found nearby the truck.

This evidence indicates that the security guard appeared to be the only person shooting his gun that evening at the night club.
