The project is an $8.7 million endeavor aimed at resurfacing the stretch of 190 near Mandeville, LA from I-12 to Louisiana 22. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development states the project will also add an auxiliary lane in the northbound direction between I-12 and Fairway Drive, and Fairway Drive and LA-22. A southbound lane will run between I-12 and Fairway Drive.
The construction is scheduled to be completed in the evening hours between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., so night-time interstate travelers should take extra precautionary measures during this time. Construction zones are a common cause of auto accidents because of changes in traffic patterns and narrowed lanes.
The area where the work will be done is a heavily traveled area which will be pared down to a single lane during the nightly work. Lane closures will alternate in order to accommodate 190’s normal flow of traffic, although delays are expected over the next few months of repairs.
