Mike Lewis AttorneysÂ’ Lea Keller Raises Money for Muscular Dystrophy through MDA Lock-Up Fundraiser

(LegalLaw247.com, November 14, 2012 ) GREENSBORO, N.C. – On Monday, over 100 civic minded leaders in Greensboro “did time” by taking part in a community fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy.

This charity event, called the MDA Lock-Up, benefited the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Funds raised through the lock-up will help local children and adults who live with the disease every day.

Lea Keller of Mike Lewis Attorneys was a volunteer jailbird for a day. Volunteers like Keller sought donations from friends and associates for mock bail to earn their release from “prison.”

Keller raised $1,100 in bail which will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Muscular dystrophy is a hereditary condition characterized by the progressive weakening and wasting of skeletal and cardiac muscles. Tragically, about 500 to 600 male newborns are diagnosed with muscular dystrophy each year.

According to their website, the MDA is a voluntary health agency aimed at conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect more than a million Americans.
