According to a Portico class action complaint, the manufacturer of the product, Fiberon, received a number of Portico decking complaints regarding the spotting. In response, the company told its customers to expend their own money to clean the decks with a chemical that did not work or appeared to work in part, only to have the mold growth return, the suit claims. Allegedly, the uniform spotting pattern cannot be prevented or remediated and can develop even if the product is properly maintained, installed and cleaned.
