Human Rights in the Humanities – The Chronicle of Higher Education

the word rarely appears in human-rights law, where the operative term is generally "person." The reason seems to be that "human" suggests a biological species, while "person" inclines subtly toward the domain of law. But why, then, are they called human rights?
