Greg Coleman Law Praises Knoxville Students Motivated to Help the Injured

(LegalLaw247.com, April 22, 2013 ) KNOXVILLE, TN – Carter High School Students exercised an emergency response drill on the school’s soccer field on Thursday April 18. The students have been preparing for an entire semester for the dramatized auto accident scenario, which was imagined by the students.

The drill was planned prior to the recent tragedies in Boston and Waco, Texas, and the dramatization designed by the students involved a double-decker bus that had gone off a bridge and crashed onto a soccer field. Several students were strewn across the field, acting as victims in the accident as their peers assessed the circumstances and prioritized which injuries required treatment first.

“…it’s stressful because people’s lives are in your hands, but… we do know what to do to get our nerves out and execute,” said junior Suzannah Parker. The EMS course, which is run through Roane State and offers dual-credit, prepares students to overcome emotions and provide aid if faced with a similar situation, giving them hands-on experience that would be necessary in an emergency.

As a Knoxville personal injury law firm, Greg Coleman Law commends Carter High’s students for taking the initiative and learning to assist the injured in an emergency. Often, treatment received at the scene of an accident can make the difference between life and death. We encourage young people to follow the example of people like Ms. Parker and her peers by enrolling in one of Tennessee’s many basic emergency training courses and learning the valuable skills required to save another person’s life.
