As the vehicle continued to take exit 281 to Highway 83 the Tahoe failed to maintain control of the speeding vehicle and it rolled of the exit ramp. During the time of the accident, 18 people where in the vehicle and five were killed.

Statistics provided by the Governor’s Office of Consumer Protection state that SUV’s tend to rollover more easily than other vehicles and account for 37 percent of all fatal crashes, compared to the 15 percent fatality rate traveling in cars.
