Camp fires, charcoal grills, and fire pits are prohibited although propane grills are still allowed in certain areas of the parks such as developed camping sites.

Smoking is still permitted in the park but smokers are strongly encouraged to be responsible and ensure that all cigarettes are extinguished and placed in trash receptacles.

The following parks are affected by the fire ban:

• Lake Pleasant Regional Park
• White Tank Mountain Regional Park
• Adobe Dam Regional Park
• Buckeye Hills Regional Park
• Estrella Mountain Regional Park (excludes the turf area)
• San Tan Mountain Regional Park
• Usery Mountain Regional Park, McDowell Mountain Regional Park
• Cave Creek Regional Park
• Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area

“The National Weather Service has issued several red flag warnings across central Arizona over the past few weeks to alert land management agencies that conditions are ideal for wildfire ignition.” Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Director R.J. Cardin said in a public statement.

In 2011 the largest wildfire in Arizona history burned more than 841 square miles of vegetation in the Apache National Forest. Approximately 11 man-made fires have blazed out of control between 2011 and 2012 destroying hundreds of acres of vegetation.

Wildfires have caused many local residents to suffer burn injuries as well as further physical damage triggered by smoke inhalation. If you or a loved one has suffered from a burn injury caused by a negligent individual, the victim may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and more.
