Cause of Metro-North Train Collision yet Unknown Reports Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers

(LegalLaw247.com, May 21, 2013 ) BRIDGEPORT, CT – National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) officials continued to investigate the Metro-North train collision in Bridgeport that displaced 20 – 30,000 commuters yesterday. Those who regularly utilize the affected stations were forced to find another way to get to work, in one of the most congested commuter areas of the country.

Luckily, what was predicted to be ‘carmageddon’ during yesterday’s commute by some government officials turned out to be relatively smooth riding. Many did experience an extended commuting time; however, the ‘parking lot’ like conditions some expected did not manifest. Surprisingly, traffic flowed steadily along I-95, I-87 and across the Tappan Zee Bridge, with the exception of a single tractor-trailer crash that was cleared relatively quickly. Shuttle services and other alternatives were available to commuters.

The train accident occurred Friday evening at approximately 6:10 p.m. when a northbound train carrying 300 passengers from Grand Central Station to New Haven derailed near an I-95 overpass in Bridgeport. The 5:30 p.m. train from New Haven that was carrying 400 passengers was traveling in the opposite direction when it struck northbound train.

16 train cars were damaged and over 70 went to the hospital; most victims were discharged. This accident was a shock to the Tri-State Area, but one that has left many grateful that no lives were lost in such a horrifying incident. As the NTSB continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash, the attorneys at Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers offer our neighbors support and best wishes. We are available to provide free legal evaluations to any who have been affected by this event.
