Military Sexual Assault Claims are on the Rise Reports Gordon & Doner

(LegalLaw247.com, May 14, 2013 ) WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Gordon & Doner attorney Joshua Stone appeared on News Channel 12 this past Friday as a military advocate following last week’s release of Pentagon survey results detailing the increase in military sexual assaults. After the news broke Tuesday that an estimated 26,000 members of the armed forces were sexually assaulted last year, an increase by nearly 37% since 2010, Stone explained that those who have been victimized may be entitled to compensation.

There is speculation that the increase in numbers is due to more military workers coming forward, rather than an actual increase in the number of assaults.

“They’ve made it clear that they are making a very concerted effort to make sure that they are providing a safe environment for victims to come forward,” said Stone, an accredited veteran disability representative. According to Stone, the number of cases the firm has seen regarding military assault spiked in the past year.

Stone says that while the cases that Gordon & Doner has seen this past year are varied, many involve superior officers that have assaulted junior troops, in both male-on-male and male-on-female situations.

Sexual assault is a serious crime, and victims may suffer physical and emotional trauma as a result of such an incident. Stone and the attorneys of Gordon & Doner offer assistance in pursuing financial compensation and disability for the injuries and illnesses suffered on duty.
