Mr. Thomas has been a criminal attorney for four years and has seen firsthand how a legal defense can bring a huge financial strain on defendants during his practice as a private attorney. Further, he explains that many people have become dissatisfied with the public defender system in Idaho because the system is over-taxed. Many people who really cannot afford to hire an attorney feel forced to into hiring one because their case has not received the attention it deserves.

For example, instead of buying a new phone line he uses Google voice and connects it to his personal phone for free. Also, he splits his time working from home and working in a “virtual office” and thus forgoes the cost of paying for a full-blown office. He hopes that these and other innovative web based tools will help him keep costs low and bridge the public defender system and the private defense bar.
