Paradise Valley to Extend Photo Enforcement Camera Contract Reports Phillips Law Group

(LegalLaw247.com, May 24, 2013 ) Phoenix, AZ –Redflex Traffic Systems has been selected to continue to provide Paradise Valley with their photo enforcement services after an initial one-year contract. On Thursday the town council will vote on whether or not to give the town manager the power to negotiate a new five-year contract. If the authority is approved the town manager will draw up the five year plan and the council will vote to approve or deny it.

Paradise Valley has had a contract with Redflex since 2000 and a year ago the town council approved a one-year contract extension. Approximately 65% of 2011 fine revenue came from these enforcement cameras. In 2012 more than 11,200 photo enforcement citations were issued in the area.

There are three locations with permanent enforcement cameras positioned and the town also uses two vans that can be stationed in more than 344 locations to catch speeding motorists and drivers running red lights. The overall goal of these programs is to reduce speeding and red-light violations and increase public safety according to Paradise Valley Municipal Court Director Jeanette Wiesenhofer.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation nearly 18% of all traffic collisions were caused by drivers who were speeding. Excessive speed was the second largest cause of fatal accidents. Additionally, 2.3% of all accidents were caused by persons who disregarded a traffic signal.

If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident by a reckless driver, the victim may be entitled to compensation for property damage, medical bills, lost wages, and more. An experienced Phoenix car accident lawyer can help you determine if you have a case, and if so, how to proceed with it.
