Lawson and Husband Divorce After Choking Incident

(LegalLaw247.com, July 18, 2013 ) Albuquerque, NM -- Nigella Lawson, the celebrity chef, and her husband art collector Charles Saatchi have stated they have concluded their “swift and amicable” divorce, with neither receiving financial compensation.

The couple made the call to divorce after photos were published of Saatchi grasping his wife's throat during an argument in London.

A statement was released on behalf of the couple stated that neither were interested in contesting the divorce “and neither party will be making any financial claims against the other."

It was stated that Lawson had tired divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton, who has represented clients such as Prince Charles and Paul McCartney. Saatchi was said to have represented himself.

The initial divorce decree is set to be announced at the end of the month.

The couple had been wed in 2003, and were living in London with Lawson's son and daughter from a previous marriage, as well as Saatchi's daughter.

Saatchi was cautioned by police regarding the throat-grab that was captured, and afterwards the couple announced the divorce officially. Saatchi stated he was disappointed Lawson had not spoken up to defend his reputation. Lawson, who is on a television program, made no comment regarding the incident to this point.

Saatchi is the cocounter of Saatchi & Saatchi ad agency, which owns one of London's largest art galleries to be owned privately. The 70-year-old was a main patron of Young British Artists movement in the 1990s, and helped usher in new artists such as Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin.
