Riddle & Brantley Report Michelin 100 Thousand Tire Recall

(LegalLaw247.com, July 23, 2013 ) GOLDSBORO, N.C. — One of the potential causes of car accidents is vehicle malfunction or improper maintenance, and the attorneys at Riddle & Brantley want to remind North Carolina travelers to inspect their vehicles thoroughly in light of the recent Michelin tire recall.

After a retailer noticed holes in several of his shop’s Michelin tires, the manufacturer has issued a voluntary recall of over 100 thousand of its tires. The recall will affect LTX M/S 2, X Radial LT2 and Latitude Tour tire models. These products were manufactured at Michelin’s Lexington, S.C. plant and likely became defective from the machine that was used to handle the finished tires, puncturing holes in their sidewalls and rendering them dangerously ineffective.

At the time of the report by Charlotte, N.C. news station, WBTV, there were no injuries or deaths associated with the recalled tires, although Michelin notes that it is likely approximately 2,500 tires are defective.

Car accidents can be the result of a number of factors, but the first thing a driver can do to prevent the likelihood an accident will occur is to properly maintain their vehicle. In addition to preventing accidents on North Carolina roadways, proper vehicle maintenance will ensure that the drivers of the car and their passengers will arrive at their destination safely.

If another driver is behaving recklessly on the road or failed to properly maintain their vehicle and you were injured as a result of their negligence, you may have car accident personal injury claim.
