(LegalLaw247.com, July 31, 2013 ) Watertown, CT – On Monday two Watertown high school students were arrested for cyber-bullying several of their peers. According to authorities the two students created a fake twitter account and used it to harass fellow students.

The first complaint of bullying came in May and upon investigating the situation it was found that the students were harassing about 40 students using "Very explicit sexual and homophobic language," Robert Desena, Watertown Police Deputy Chief told News 8.

Once the authorities got involved the Twitter account was shut down but the students created a new one and continued to harass others. After working with Twitter on the matter, police issued warrants for the arrest of the two teens. The students were arrested for breach of peace and have been to court on the charges.

In 2011 the state of Connecticut passed new cyber-bullying regulations and becoming the eighth state to expand their bullying laws to include cyber-bullying. Furthermore, the state also includes off-school behavior in their bullying law.
