Temporary Bridge Planned for Six-Mile Creek Reports Standeffer and Harbin

(LegalLaw247.com, August 30, 2013 ) Central, S.C – A temporary being is being planned over six-mile creek after the old bridge’s substructure was knocked down during local floods. On August 6th the old bridge was closed after swift waters from heavy rain partially collapsed.

The old bridge fell about 4 to 5 feet leaving only one side of the two-lane bridge available. The South Carolina requested emergency aid from the Federal Highway Administration on the same day that Governor Haley signed an emergency declaration.

The funds were approved on August 1th while requests for a temporary bridge were approved on August 27th.

Construction of the temporary bridge is expected to be completed by October and the road re-opened. As for a new bridge, construction will likely not begin until 2014 after the school year has been completed.

As this bridge is only temporary it is important that drivers exercise caution while in the area. On average the daily traffic count for the bridge is 2,100 vehicles. If you or a loved one are injured during an auto accident caused by the faulty road or due to another individual’s negligence, the victim may be entitled to compensation for property damage, medical expenses, lost wages, and more.
