Five-Car Pileup on I-17 Leaves One Dead Reports Phillips Law Group

(LegalLaw247.com, September 10, 2013 ) Anthem, AZ – On Saturday morning a five-vehicle crash on I-17 caused the closure of both sides of the interstate for hours.

According to authorities one person died as a result of their injuries.
The collision happened around 11a.m when a tire tread separation caused a vehicle to roll onto the median. Traffic slowed but a box truck driver lost sight of the road after dropping a water bottle and slammed into another car which led to the five-car pileup. The three persons in the first vehicle were injured and according to the Daisy Mountain Fire Department seven more were hurt.

Initial reports indicated that three people were critically injured and it was later announced that one driver died. All lanes of the interstate were open and moving by 4:30 p.m.

According to the Daisy Mountain Fire Department the truck driver will be cited for failing to control their vehicle.

In Arizona there were an estimated 84,529 multi-vehicle accidents in 2011, additionally the Arizona Department of Transportation notes that there were more than 8,100 collisions involving non-specific trucks.
