What is London's Million Tree Challenge?
Since 2011, more than 158,300 trees have been planted for the Million Tree Challenge. In 40 years more than $2 million in energy costs will have been saved, as well as more than $4.5 million in air quality.
London was once known as Forest City in honour of its tree-lined boulevards. As London developed in the early 1800s many of the trees were cut down. Less than 50 years later reforestation efforts began, and ever since then Londoners have been passionate about trees. In the early 2000s ReForest London, a non-profit organization, and the City of London began partnering with community members and businesses to continue the Forest City legacy.
According to www.milliontrees.ca, trees can improve air quality, reduce heating and cooling costs, provide more shade, and increase home values.
The entire team of personal injury lawyers and staff members at Greg Monforton & Partners strongly supports this initiative and encourages fellow Londoners to join the challenge.
