Firefighters Rescue Man in Highway Crash

(LegalLaw247.com, December 15, 2014 ) Jackson, MS -- A man from Gulfport was hospitalized after he was involved in an auto accident on Monday, December 8th. The victim sustained several injuries from the collision, which led to a heavy traffic gridlock on the Mississippi State Highway.

The 47-year-old injured man was freed from his mangled car by firefighters, who had called in a helicopter to help with the evacuation.

The man was driving a Toyota truck and was heading south on Mississippi 53 when he struck the other vehicle involved. He was flown out by the Life Flight chopper to the University of South Alabama Medical Center, where his injuries were reportedly found to be life-threatening. As of now, he is still working on recovering from the wreck.

Fire chief Pat Sullivan told the media that the hurt man had to first be stabilized and was then transported to the hospital by the chopper. Sullivan also stated that both vehicles involved in the accident were completely destroyed.

The other driver’s injuries were not as severe, although he did suffer some harm and may end up needing the legal assistance of a Jackson personal injury attorney.

The lane was closed for an hour as a result of the crash. Patrol troopers had to shut the other lanes down in other to allow the helicopter land. By 7pm, normalcy was restored after the wreckage was cleared.
