Orlando Man Arrested for Doughnut Glaze

(LegalLaw247.com, August 04, 2016 ) Orlando, Fl -- Daniel Rushing annually purchases a doughnut every other Wednesday which he enjoys from the comfort of his car. This was regular for Rushing until he was pulled over by Cpl. Shelby Riggs- Hopkins. The Corporal stopped Rushing because he failed to come to a complete halt attempting to leave a Seven Eleven parking lot and he was driving twelve miles above the speed limit. Cpl. Riggs- Hopkins was stationed at the Seven Eleven because there had been reports of drug use in the area of the store. Rushing informed the officer that he had a firearm in his possession, while he was retrieving information from his wallet Cpl. Riggs- Hopkins noticed his gun permit. The officer then asked Mr. Rushing to remove himself from the car and as he did so she noticed four white flakes that resemble rocks on the floor of his car. When she noticed the substance, she asked to search Rushings car and he agreed because he knew he had nothing to hide.
Upon her discovery, Cpl. Riggs -Hopkins claims the flakes to be cocaine and then crystal meth. Rushing tried to tell the officer that what she was seeing was doughnut glaze and of course she didn't believe him.Cpl. Riggs- Hopkins transported Rushings to a county jail and charged him with possession of a firearm and methamphetamine. He was incarcerated for 10 hours before being released on a $2,500 bond.

Mr. Rushing was an ordinary person who will now be cautious of where he eats a glazed doughnuts. He was also charged with the possession of a firearm while the officer was well aware of the permit he had acquired."
