(LegalLaw247.com, August 15, 2016 ) Ft. Lauderdale, Fl -- Two stolen prescription pads has turned into a drug trafficking scandal. One hundred forty falsely signed prescriptions made out for a quantity of 17,250 drugs to be sold by drug dealers who are affiliated with a doctor. This trafficking business was in operation throughout the year of 2015 until they were ceased. Law enforcement's have found six people guilty from multiple locations in the Broward County area. Two of the main subjects, Alexis McDonald and Harolena Persad, were the ring leaders of this operation. Persad is out of custody on house arrest after paying her 75 thousand dollar bond that was lessened from the original amounts of over a million dollars. McDonald bond is still set at more than one million dollars and she remains incarcerated facing 112 counts against her. All of the other subjects also remain jailed under bond amounts that extend over thousands of dollars.

McDonald and Persad were said to be medical assistants at a health centre after co workers recognised their handwriting on the prescription pads. The pads belonged to a doctor that works at the facility. All six suspects face charges that reflect trafficking opiates such as morphine and oxycodone and timely sentences. Warrants have been put out for four other people who may have been involved in the case.

A representative from Drug Florida Rehab said: "The people that work in health centres are never suspected to be the ones to concoct a drug ring while they are surrounded by countless opportunities to obtain the means to receive drugs for their own benefit. This has changed the game for many doctors offices, now physicians will have to keep an eye out for something as harmless as a prescription pad. We can see now that something so small can produce dangerous outcomes.
