World Anti-Doping Agency Seeks to Legally Ban Russia From Olympics, Cincinnati Drug Rehab Comments

(LegalLaw247.com, August 02, 2016 ) Cincinnati, OH -- As reported by the New York Times, officials with the World Anti-Doping Agency are taking measures towards banning Russian athletes from competing in the 2016 Rio Olympic games due to widespread illegal use of performance enhancing drugs with the knowledge, consent, and assistance of the Russian government. After months of investigations which have been impeded by Russian authorities, and retesting of 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics Games samples, WADA officials are expected to pressure Olympic Officials to bar all Russian competitors in efforts to keep the competition as fair as possible.

Cincinnati Drug Rehab knows that substance abuse in sports often begins as a means to boost one's performance. However, as a drug rehab in Cincinnati, they also recognise that the negative effects of such substance abuse greatly outweigh those proposed benefits. Keeping drug abuse off of the international stage of the Olympics is beyond important; the International Olympic Committee must come together to send the message that drug use is not tolerated among competitors.

A representative of Cincinnati Drug Rehab comments:
"With the international platform that the 2016 Rio Olympics provides its athletes for future endorsement and business deals as well as exposure to fans and impressionable youth, it is crucial that competition is fair and true. That means ensuring no use of performance enhancing drugs or other dubious, underhanded activities. With the revelation of a far reaching drug scandal with the knowledge and consent of the Russian government, we fully support a ban of those athletes involved. We cannot spread the message that drug abuse is okay on such a public forum."
